week 34: an asparagus grew at church 🌱

Image
good morning friends! it's been another week.. not sure how it's Monday again but hey! I'm not complaining! let me see if I can remember what I did this week. but first check out my google photos!  https://photos.app.goo.gl/o1Wmow78ZBW55WZd8 spiritual thought: so I'll tell the story about Bentley later but Bentley is an 11 year old lil girl who was interested in learning about Jesus Christ even when her grandma wasn't. that was just a reminder to me about how Christ said to become as a little child!  Matthew 18:2-4 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,  3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.  4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Elder Holland's talk from this last conference talks about becoming as a little child! listen to it. it's really good. ...

week 33: He is risen! 🩷

good morning everyone! happy Easter! i hope you all had a great week remembering and celebrating Jesus!  here's my google photos:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/o1Wmow78ZBW55WZd8 spiritual thought: I've been reading a book about the atonement of Jesus Christ. the chapter I read yesterday told a story about one day in Sacrament Meeting when the young men got up to prepare the Sacrament there was no bread. he looked all over and then finally told the bishop. the bishop stood up and explained to the congregation then asked "How would it be if the Sacrament table were empty today because there were no atonement?"  that got me thinking about how much we truly rely on our Savior! His atonement is what makes it possible for us to overcome sin and death and without him we'd have no hope in this life. death would be the end for us. that's probably about the saddest thing I've ever heard. but luckily for us there was an atonement. and there is a Christ. and He lives! ...

week 32: Ohio doesn't know it's April 🌸

Image
oh hey! it's been another week! I'm not sure how we're halfway through April and apparently Ohio doesn't either cause it's still freezing! it better warm up soon.. anyways how are you all?!  here's my google photos:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/o1Wmow78ZBW55WZd8 spiritual thought: okay so I LOVED general conference and if yall didn't get a chance to listen then go do it, if you did.. listen again. it was sooo good! one of my favorite talks was Receive His Gift by Elder Patrick Kearon. here's the link https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2025/04/55kearon?lang=eng he talks about receiving the gift and really understanding the fact that you are a child of God!  "You may be wondering, “What do I have to do to receive this gift from God?” Well, actually, nothing. It is a gift from the Giver. It is simply a fact. Just let it in. You are His child. You are beloved of Him. Do not complicate it. Do not block the receiving of this gift...

week 31: the foolish man built his house upon the bank of the rivers in ohio..

howdy everyone! I hope you've had a blessed week! I know I have! let's get right into it! spiritual thought: I know what you're thinking.. we just had general conference and I'm gonna talk about something from that... while it was really good, i've had something else on my mind lately.  a member said this to me and it really stuck with me the past few days.  all of us who grew up in the church of course have to grow our own testimonies and come to know for ourselves if the gospel is true. but we all expect it to be a huge Joseph Smith experience and some of us are disappointed if it's not. sometimes even to the point where we doubt our faith. Sister Brooks said  when you grow up in the sunshine you're not gonna have a huge darkness to light experience. the beams might be brighter or hit you in a different way but it's always been there!  I guess that hit me because I've wondered why I haven't had profound experiences but I've lived with the...
