week 34: an asparagus grew at church 🌱

good morning friends! it's been another week.. not sure how it's Monday again but hey! I'm not complaining! let me see if I can remember what I did this week.

but first check out my google photos! https://photos.app.goo.gl/o1Wmow78ZBW55WZd8

spiritual thought: so I'll tell the story about Bentley later but Bentley is an 11 year old lil girl who was interested in learning about Jesus Christ even when her grandma wasn't. that was just a reminder to me about how Christ said to become as a little child!

Matthew 18:2-4
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Elder Holland's talk from this last conference talks about becoming as a little child! listen to it. it's really good. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2025/04/13holland?lang=eng

Mosiah 3:19
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

think about what it means to become as a little child. let me know what you come up with!

MONDAY
shoutout to sister LeBaron for turning 20! 🥳
it was a chill p day. one of our friends that we met at the food pantry, Brooke, took us out for lunch. I learned that in Ohio they dip their sweet potato fries in maple syrup and put cinnamon sugar on top. I also remembered fry sauce is a Utah thing so I had to make my own.
lately ive decided i need to drink more water so ive been drinking a gallon every day. when we went grocery shopping I had to buy a gallon for each day of the week. that's a lot of water.
we had a lesson with our friend Charles who wants to learn more about baptism! so we taught him THE WAY!

TUESDAY
Sister Ehlers turned 20 also! happy birthday 🎂
we had a lesson with Amberly and Harold and they decided they wanted to show us deer creek. so we got in the car and amberly read the book of mormon to us on the way. I love lessons with her cause whenever we answer her questions and explain things she says "that makes sense to me!" and I'm like bang it cause it's true. we visited some members who live above their animal hospital which was awesome. they have a lil elevator in their house to get from there to the hospital. they let us try it out (videos on my google photos^^)
we stopped by our friend kimberly and talked about baptism and invited her to be baptized! she accepted and was so excited :))

WEDNESDAY
we knocked a whole street. and the entire time I was like oh this house looks familiar... when you're a missionary that happens a lot. houses just look similar. but no it was like tiny lil details that I remembered. like their decorations on their porch or the number on their house. I have a photographic memory okay but my companion would not believe me. every house we went to I was like nope I remember this one too. we've been here before. to the point when at like the 5th house I was like no I'm 100% sure weve knocked this before. and she told me I was crazy and that "there's no way" but I swear on my life. (and there is a way.. we live in a literal village) but oh well we knocked the whole street again and met Caila! she's so sweet. she originally told us no but we shared our message anyways lol we shared a scripture and she was like "ya know I actually needed to hear that today" so we gave her a Book of Mormon but she didn't give us her number, we gave her ours and said to reach out if she has questions. she's awesome.

THURSDAY
first district council of the transfer! okay guys it was literally 76 degrees outside which is wonderful but then we were knocking and I felt like I couldn't breathe.. humidity is no joke. also every single one of our plans fell through so we decided to go hit some stop bys at the bottom of our area. we had a referral named Kim and we found her sitting on her porch. we told her who we were and she seemed confused but also still interested so we sat down and talked about prophets and the restoration of Jesus Christs church! it started POURING and continued the whole time we were teaching her. thunder was rumbling.. it was awesome. one time tho the thunder sounded like a gunshot then like kept going and it was so loud and lowkey I thought the world was ending. after that wewent to more stop bys and at one point drove UP. like.. up a mountain! one of their tiny lil wimpy hill/mountains but it wasn't flat so it brought me joy. everything is so green

FRIDAY
we went to the food pantry and sorted frozen foods... they have a lifetime supply of ice cream now I think. I've never seen so much ice cream in my life and I'm not sure I ever wanna see it again. they were all weird flavors too. what happened to chocolate and vanilla? our lesson with kimberly fell through. she told us she decided she wants to stay with her church :(
a grumpy old guy told us that we're a science experiment and that "there is no Book of Mormon, go read the real bible" but bestie there is one. I have one in my bag... poor guy is living in a tough world of his own mind with no Jesus Christ.

SATURDAY
we went to the Hall's to do some service! my companion loves plants so she's been offering to do everyone's gardening. we pulled weeds for a couple hours and I saw every bug ever in that dirt. but also it was so easy to dig in... Utah dirt is hard as rock lol
I really enjoyed it tho and sister Hall seemed to really appreciate it so we told her we'll come back and help again another day

SUNDAY
shoutout to my bestie olivia who turned 20 and celebrated her birthday for the first time without me lol
church was awesome! the spirit was so strong! the McMurdie's son whos autistic just kinda sits wherever he wants. they told us if he sits in your lap then he likes you and well the day finally came! I think we're friends now cause he sat on my lap twice 😂 he's precious. OH and I guess I should mention our friend Joe showed up! he told us he couldn't so we weren't expecting him and when he walked in we thought maybe he was a member we hadn't met yet. he told us his name and we were like OHHH JOE! and he seemed to love church. after classes he was talking to brother Stucki and it looked like he was wiping tears awww
okay so Bentley. we were knocking and the first house a guy answered and before we said anything he told us he wasn't interested then asked inside if anyone was interested in church and then told us no and shut the door so we moved on and we were on the porch of the house next door when two little girls walked out and I overheard them asking if they could talk to us! so they came out and started asking us questions. they're 11 and 12 and we talked to them about Jesus Christ and asked if they wanted kids bible story books. we made them ask permission before we gave it to them but they were so precious. her grandma said we could come back "if that's what she wants" Bentley is so cool!

I guess I felt like typing this morning... now its your turn to tell me about your week! if you got this far thanks for reading! thanks for all the support and prayers! I love you all and miss you! have a wonderful week!
