week 32: Ohio doesn't know it's April 🌸
oh hey! it's been another week! I'm not sure how we're halfway through April and apparently Ohio doesn't either cause it's still freezing! it better warm up soon.. anyways how are you all?!
here's my google photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/o1Wmow78ZBW55WZd8
spiritual thought: okay so I LOVED general conference and if yall didn't get a chance to listen then go do it, if you did.. listen again. it was sooo good! one of my favorite talks was Receive His Gift by Elder Patrick Kearon. here's the link
he talks about receiving the gift and really understanding the fact that you are a child of God!
"You may be wondering, “What do I have to do to receive this gift from God?” Well, actually, nothing. It is a gift from the Giver. It is simply a fact. Just let it in. You are His child. You are beloved of Him. Do not complicate it. Do not block the receiving of this gift with thoughts that you are somehow undeserving. The reality is none of us is “deserving”—all the Father’s gifts are received only through the merits, mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, but how His generous heart longs for each of His children to receive them! Then, as your new or renewed understanding dawns on you, rejoice in thanking the Giver of this gift."
MONDAY
we went to the food pantry again! then we went shopping and I got a cutie lil plant! sister Nelson's parents paid for us to go get sushi which is so sweet of them! we also went thrifting! shoutout to my cousin isabelle who's mission call was perfectly timed so I was allowed to watch her open it! she's going to Paraguay! also it was grandma Bundy's birthday! 🥳 happy birthday to her!
TUESDAY
we had a few crazy miracles that day but I'll share a couple stories. we stopped by a grey dot and talked to him for a second. he said he had issues with the elders because they "believed in a different bible" so that's when we whipped out the Book of Mormon and explained to him what it was and why we have it and after that he was willing to read it! later we were stopping by a member but then realized her dot said she moved somewhere else so we decided to knock around instead. well on the last door we knocked on the woman was interested but said she lived somewhere else and was just staying at that house for a few days.. so we asked for her information so we could pass it to the missionaries where she lives and she said her name was Amanda! she was the inactive member we originally went to see! we invited her to church and she said she'd be there!
that night we taught someone the word of wisdom on first contact so that was interesting lol
WEDNESDAY
we had our last district council of the transfer! the Prestwich's made us tacos awww. they know the way to my heart. another miracle happened! we have a friend named megan we've been wanting to talk with but every time we go over her husband yaps at us and we don't get a single word in so we decided to just drop by unannounced and Scott wasn't home! God is good! we got to talk to megan all by ourselves and it was awesome! we had dinner with the Waltz's that night. they're my favorite. they just got home from their mission in California! so they adore missionaries and love to help us out any chance they get.
THURSDAY
we volunteer at the food pantry twice a week and we met a woman named Brooke there! after talking with her a couple times she apparently told her family about us and what we do and they wanted to have us over for dinner! they're the sweetest people I've ever met and they live on a beautiful farm! we went over for dinner and afterwards they introduced us to their blue eyed horse Blizzard and their donkey Ellie! they want to take us out to their friend's ranch where they breed deer!
FRIDAY
food pantry friday! we had some good lessons and then the Snavely's took us out for dinner! she stalked me on Facebook and found my mom and sent her a cutie picture of us and then she CALLED MY PARENTS?! it was so funny. borderline breaking rules but I wasn't complaining. that night I talked to a guy who speaks spanish.. over google translate. then I said "mucho gusto, buenas noches..??" And he laughed. I think he appreciated me trying lol
SATURDAY
we woke up at 5am so that we could do a service project in London! they had the London Marathon and we helped by unboxing the medals and handing them all out! Ohioans are crazy. it's April and it was frosty and they were running?! we got to cheer for all the runners which was fun and lowkey just had a dance party. the photographer apparently got a video of us all dancing. I saw sister Raymond from the shaker heights ward! she's a runner and made that marathon look like a piece of cake bruh.
we went out and did some stop bys after that. CJ let us hold her puppy awww and the Waltz's came with us to our lesson with Vern! it was awesome! sister waltz saw his guitar and asked him to play something and told his son Liam he had to sing (I love sister waltz) this man starts playing and I immediately recognize the song and then his son started singing Last Night by Morgan Wallen! I LOVE Morgan Wallen AHHHH
anyways after that we talked about THE WAY (faith repentance baptism...) and asked Vern to pray about being baptized! he said he was excited for church!
SUNDAY
we had a meeting before church so we got there about an hour early. then our pal Vern walks in... he got the time mixed up oops so we left him with some members while we went to our meeting and when we came back he was gone.. he said he'd be back but he never came back :( Satan's working double time on Sundays I swear. BUT Amanda came to church! we were shocked! Her grandparents are in our branch so she sat by them.
we met a referral Harold and his wife Amberly and they were so cool! we gave them each a book of mormon and they said they love to learn and want us to come back next week! then we had a Why I Believe devotional and all the missionaries in our zone did a musical number singing Called to Serve!
if you got this far thanks for reading! tell me about your week! I love and miss you all!
