week 40: temple, tires, transfers

 hey y'all this week as been wild. I don't even remember half of it. let's get into it..

spiritual thought: I listened to this talk while preparing to write my talk on sunday! it's called "It's a Miracle" by Elder Neil L. Andersen and I wanted to share this part of it

"Brothers and sisters, as surely as the Lord has inspired more missionaries to serve, He is also awakening the minds and opening the hearts of more good and honest people to receive His missionaries. You already know them or will know them. They are in your family and live in your neighborhood. They walk past you on the street, sit by you in school, and connect with you online. You too are an important part of this unfolding miracle. 

If you’re not a full-time missionary with a missionary badge pinned on your coat, now is the time to paint one on your heart—painted, as Paul said, “not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God.” And returned missionaries, find your old missionary tag. Don’t wear it, but put it where you can see it. The Lord needs you now more than ever to be an instrument in His hands. All of us have a contribution to make to this miracle." 

God is truly preparing His people to receive His gospel. scattered Isreal hangs around gathered Israel and guess what?! if you're a member of His church then you are in fact gathered Israel and I know you have friends that need to hear the gospel! 

here's another quote from that talk

"President Thomas S. Monson has said: “We take most seriously the Savior’s mandate … , ‘Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.’” “This … cause … will continue to go forth, changing and blessing lives. … No force in the entire world can stop the work of God.”"

nothing can stop the work of God. but you can sure help it move along! the Lord is hastening His work and He needs our help to gather His children.

go out and love your friends! share the gospel with them and invite them to church and other activities! it'll bring you so much joy :)

TUESDAY

we went to the temple! it's been way too long. this is your sign to schedule a temple appointment. it was very refreshing. the London sisters and the Prestwich's also were there and afterwards we had lunch at Bibibop. (if you don't know what that is it's probably because they don't have it out west but it's YUM)

we then discovered cracker barrel has a gift shop and explored for a second. since it was temple day it was also p day so we talked to our families until we got transfer news! then had some tire issues.. for some reason the air pressure was low. the Snavely's helped us out and we were able to get home

WEDNESDAY

we spent the morning letting sister Nelson pack cause she got transfered! then the Prestwich's came for an apartment inspection. I adore them.

our friend Brooke invited us to lunch so after a couple hours of packing we went to a lil restaurant called Streetside 62 and guess what?! our tire pressure was low again! so after lunch we called the car elders and they told us to put air in it... we could literally hear air coming out of it. so after we filled it back up we drove it up to meet and swap cars for the night so they could get it fixed before transfers. we had a really good lesson with our friend Taylor and went over commandments and the word of wisdom! sister Vore and her ex husband Glen took us out to dinner after that. then the Snavely's took us for ice cream, we had a lesson with Chuck.. he told us that something that really stuck with him from the first time we met was that I said the reason I do missionary work is so that other people can feel the joy that I feel from the gospel of Jesus Christ. I thought that was cool. 

THURSDAY

transfers! we got sister Nelson's stuff all in the car then visited a couple members last minute before heading up to transfers! it was so good to see all my past companions and other missionaries I've served around! My new comp is sister Reeves and she's from Bakersfield, California. shoutout to Elder Durkin serving there currently! we all went to Bibibop and then headed back to our areas! Sister Reeves and I unloaded all her stuff then ran over to sister pitzer's house for dinner! 

FRIDAY

we went to the food pantry! spent a good portion of the day deep cleaning cause it was needed. a lot of our lessons fell through bit we met with crystal who takes care of her grandma with dementia. I think she appreciates us visiting every now and them. then we got a call from brother Snavely and now i know not to answer his calls cause we both got asked to talk im church on sunday.

also shoutout to my cousin Kaden who finally got his mission call after waiting like 2 months! he's going to Arkansas! 

SATURDAY

we had a lesson with our friend Lyle. he's a lil stubborn but we invited him to read a chapter in the book of mormon. we went to the church to call our friends to invite them to sacrament meeting and when we pulled in there was a dog laying in the grass... I don't think he was breathing :(

there's also cicadas EVERYWHERE. I've seen their skins at the Bundy reunion 700 times but I've never seen the actual thing. there's thousands of them. they're swarming every single plant that exists out here and it's Ohio so there's a lot of them. 

we stopped by Sister Vore and also ran into Taylor and Dylan at walmart! 

SUNDAY

not gonna lie woke up and finally wrote my talk. talked about miracles of Jesus Christ. then tied it into the miracle that is missionary work. it went pretty well I hope. I found a big spider in our apartment when we went back for lunch so I sprayed it with ant killer until it died... we did some stop bys, one being Taylor who wasn't home but as we drove away they pulled up so we turned around, had a lil follow up on the word of wisdom lesson and it's going good! she has a strong desire to get baptized so it's causing her to have a desire to follow the word of wisdom! please pray for her :)
