spiritual thought: I listened to a byu devotional by Elder Holland (my fav) called "missions are forever" he shares the story from John 21 about when Jesus asks Peter "lovest thou me?" and Peter replies 3 different times saying yes you know i love you! and Jesus says "feed my sheep"
these apostles had just had this crazy spiritual experience and afterwards Jesus was gone they didn't know what to do.. they went back to their old lives. they went fishing. Elder Holland likened that unto missionaries returning home and going back to their old ways. it happens more often than we think. but he emphasized that missions are forever and once we get home and no longer have a tag, we can't just go back. we have to be forever changed. and if we love Him. feed His sheep.
we should all learn from this, missionary or not. it says in 2 Nephi 26 "he hath commanded his people that they should persuade all men to repentance."
if you are a member of His church then you are His people. and he has commanded us all to persuade all men to repentance. missionary work. feed His sheep.
2 Nephi 26:24–28
okay NOW I guess I'll tell you about my week
MONDAY
we played volleyball as a district and elder Watkins served the ball right into my forehead. Just minding my own business then *SMACK* volleyball to the face. I laughed so hard I cried. it was so funny
the waltz's took us out for ice cream after dinner too. they're precious
TUESDAY
we visited an inactive member, bonnie. I absolutely love her she's such a sweetheart and I can't wait to visit her again. later we were stopping by a grey dot and they had a long dirt road driveway that had a few big puddles in it from all the rain.. so I went off-roading. one of the puddles closer to the house was wayyy too big so I stopped there and started to walk the rest of the way. that's when a lady asked who we were and then cussed us out and told me if I get stuck she's not gonna help me and she's just gonna call the police. good thing I have God on my side
OH and then we stopped by Justin. Justin referred himself to come to church about a month ago and hasn't come but we stopped by and talked with him for awhile then taught him a quick lil restoration and he started tearing up and said we made his whole day because he's been having such a crappy day and that he thinks God wants him to go to church. YAY JUSTIN
WEDNESDAY
we had district council and interviews with President. and the Prestwich's made us all lunch! they're the best. and I got to see my mom! (my trainer) sister jordan!
while we were knocking later we found carl! he is so cool! I was telling him about the Book of Mormon and he took it out of my hands before I could even offer it to him! he couldn't wait to read it.
THURSDAY
we did some service with the Arslanian's for their friend Susan. she was doing some gardening and house work. so we helped take out her landscaping bricks and lay new ones down. I could feel sweat dripping down my back and it was about 70 degrees outside.. humidity is no joke
we had a lesson with Monica! she's a member but has been going to church with her husband's family for so long that she forgot basic truths and so we've been teaching her!
the sky on the way home was SO pretty (check pictures down below)
FRIDAY
we had a bold word of wisdom lesson with our friend Frederick, sometimes I get bold and wonder if I crossed a line but some people need us to be bold with them. we found this cutie lil honey box where someone was selling honey! just a box on a tree with jars of honey and a camera and a money box. so of course I had to get some. those bees worked hard cause that was yummy honey.
SATURDAY
happy birthday to my mama! I got to call her for a lil bit! we had a few lessons and stopped by Justin again! he said he put his book of mormon on the counter and was so excited to come to church!
then we were sitting in a parking lot eating our subway for dinner and someone drove by and it looked like our friend Lori. well Lori has been sick so that wouldn't make sense but i watched her get out of her car and walk into the thrift store with her daughter so of course we followed her.. she'd canceled our last few lessons so if we caught her out she wouldn't be able to cancel the one we had scheduled that night hehehe
she said she still wasn't feeling well but that we could come over that night so we did!
SUNDAY
happy mother's day to all the mama's out there! so grateful for all that you do! especially my mama.
we had church! justin... didn't show up... and neither did anyone else... bruh.
but we had a great relief society lesson because all the men were taking care of the primary so that the women could come to relief society. they gave everyone muffins and cutie flower plants. we got some too hehe #futuremother
we went on a walk and picked wildflowers!
the rest of the day is a blur to be honest...
but hey! you made it to the end, thanks for reading! tell me about your week! I miss and love you all!
