week 46: doubling in x3 + nat² = 🥳
good morning! this week felt like more than one week but it's been a great one! lemme tell you about it..
check out my google photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/o1Wmow78ZBW55WZd8
spiritual thought:
1 Nephi 4:10 And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.
this is something I feel a lot as a missionary. especially doubling into a new area where neither I nor my comp know the area and the people.
I know that God asks us to do hard things sometimes. but he never makes us do it alone. He always provides a way. I'm so grateful for that.
follow the Spirit always!
MONDAY
actually wasn't a great day.. I woke up at 2am and couldn't sleep so I went to the study room and studied some scriptures about the Atonement. I was sleep deprived all day and we didn't end up having a district activity. dinner with the Waltz's they could tell I wasn't acting normal and kept asking what was wrong lol they're so sweet! I was just so tired!
TUESDAY
we had a lesson with our friend James! he's super cool and is praying about baptism :) the Prestwich's came for an apartment inspection. they're the best. The McMurdies fed us dinner and I shared a quick spiritual thought, later brother mcmurdie said that it really helped him and he's grateful that I always follow the spirit. we had a lesson with Brandon and the Waltz's and we honestly just yapped about a billion things. THEN we got transfer news! they always send us a ptl (prepare to learn) that we have to finish before they'll send us transfer news! this time it was to read Moroni 10 and write our testimonies about the Book of Mormon! sister Reeves and I got home 30 minutes after they sent the ptl so the entire mission was waiting on us to finish.. awkward..
TRANSFER NEWS: I'm doubling in to Jackson!
WEDNESDAY
since I was leaving I wanted to say bye to my greenfield friends! spent the morning packing and then visited the McMurdies, and Taylor and her family. then the waltz's came with us to a lesson with Don and Mazzie! it poured rain like crazy. had to say goodbye to them, then sister Steele and baby Clark and dinner with the Arslanian's! we had one more lesson with Brandon and the Waltz's and then I said bye to them too. probably the hardest one. before I left Brandon told me that I'm the most genuinely happy person he's ever met and that I made him realize that kind of joy is possible. I told him it was the spirit. but also that's probably the nicest thing anyone's every said to me so
THURSDAY
finished packing everything. visited sister Brooks, sister Vanzant, then sister Snavely made her husband drive her to work so we could meet somewhere and I could say bye to Beckett! then we hungout at the Arslanian's until we had to leave. they made me cutie bracelets and things. sister Arslanian made me monster cookies and smores cookies. lil Joshua came and gave me a tiny lil flower. he's my favorite. finally I said goodbye and we drove to transfers! I got to see all my favorite people. SISTER JORDAN GAVE ME HER GUITAR! and then she left :(
my new companion is sister Natalie Turner! we had to shove all out stuff into the car and then went to lunch and none of the other missionaries were there anymore.. guess we took too long 🤷♀️ we drove home and started to unpack. we live in the cutiest house ever! it's so fun!
FRIDAY
so this time doubling in was different because we replaced sisters instead of replacing elders. turns out either way is hard and people are just messy, not just elders. the sisters did leave us with more information than the elders usually do tho. we deep cleaned our fridge and did some more unpacking. then we decided to text some friends and members and get to know people! we had a lesson with our friend Zeck and Brother Poetker came with us. Zeck just flipped to a page and said let's read this chapter, so we read 1 Nephi 4 and it went pretty well. he's pretty cool. we visited this cutie family, the Maquindang's. they're from the Philippines and they have the cutest 2 year old daughter who danced and sang for us! overall pretty good first day in Jackson
SATURDAY
Jackson is like the south part of Greenfield area. very green and lots of hills. it's beautiful! not great for missionary work but very beautiful. we did some stop bys and visited some friends and some members. we visited brother and sister Hiles. turns out she's sister Maquindang's mom! and sister Cruse, the branch president's wife is also her daughter. she sent us home with some sticky rice. its a Philippino recipe. we went on a walk before our zone prayer! the sunset was so gorgeous
SUNDAY
first time in Jackson branch! they asked us to go up and introduce ourselves and share our testimonies. then after that we did a hymn testimony meeting. Basically you choose a hymn you like and you can go up and share what hymn and why you like it and then we all sing it! so of course sister Turner and I went right back up and shared our hymns. she chose I Need Thee Every Hour and I chose When the Savior Comes Again, from the new hymn book. there were approximately 36 people there. counting us. it was a fun first sunday!
it's always a new adventure out here in Ohio! now tell me about your adventures! I love and miss you all!
