spiritual thought: at interviews President asked us to come prepared with a scripture about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I shared this one
Helaman 5:9-11
9 O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world.
10 And remember also the words which Amulek spake unto Zeezrom, in the city of Ammonihah; for he said unto him that the Lord surely should come to redeem his people, but that he should not come to redeem them in their sins, but to redeem them from their sins.
11 And he hath power given unto him from the Father to redeem them from their sins because of repentance; therefore he hath sent his angels to declare the tidings of the conditions of repentance, which bringeth unto the power of the Redeemer, unto the salvation of their souls.
I love these verses. especially where it says in verse 10 that he came to redeem us FROM our sins not to redeem us IN our sins. and thats why we have the gift of repentance! we're able to repent of our sins and overcome them because Jesus Christ already overcame them for us. and that's why in verse 11 it says He sent His angels to declare repentance! I love teaching people how to access the power of their Redeemer! π«Άπ½
MONDAY
we had a district activity, played chair soccer and telestrations. this sweet member took us out for dinner at Bob Evans and told us all about her grandchildren. she's precious. then we taught our friends Shaun and Damien about THE WAY.
TUESDAY
district council and interviews were bussin. President asked us to come prepared to share a scripture about the Atonement! I'll talk about that in my spiritual thought ^^^ President Brockbank is a very wise man and always knows exactly what to say to hype us missionaries up.
after driving an hour and a half back to Jackson we stopped by a grey dot named David. he's so funny! we met his daughter Abigale who's 19 years old! and when he asked my name I forgot for a second and said Natalie π€¦♀️ made sure to correct that but then he found out my comp is also Natalie and started calling us "The Natalies"
he still had his Book of Mormon from the past times he met with missionaries and there was a paper inside with the lyrics to "If The Savior Stood Beside Me" so naturally we sang it together. he said we could come back and do more Book of Mormon studies
WEDNESDAY
we met with our favorite hillbilly convert and helped him a little bit to write his talk for Sunday! we also did some service for a member's nonmember friends! we pulled weeds for her and even tho Magnolia told her not to pay us she gave us each DQ gift cards. so sweet
then we drove up to swap for training visits!
THURSDAY
training visits! sister Taylor went to Jackson with sis Turner for the day and I went spanish with the trio! hermana Walker, hermana Hamada and I had a blast.
so guys get this: there's a Fiiz drinks in Ohio! so you know we had to go get some soda. all the sudden all my Pop Drinks knowledge left me and I forgot all the good flavor combinations but google maps came in clutch and I looked up a Pop menu. not important tho...
we did some service picking apples for this family! there was a MASSIVE spider. it was munching down on a cicada. language training visits are always fun cause you just sit and look pretty during lessons cause you have NO idea what anyone is saying. Hermana Hamada is from Mexico and speaks english pretty well but it was fun to teach her new words and slang. I taught her the words obnoxious and baddie and that a hare is an animal π
MEANWHILE... back in Jackson my comp was busy getting filmed on a ring doorbell and put on tik tok... she laughed at the sign on their door that said "get off my porch" but in more colorful words. then she proceeded to knock anyways and the person put it on tik tok where it showed up on her friend's page and eventually got back to her mom who sent it to her. we've been cracking up about it ever since. lowkey scared of doorbells now...
FRIDAY
our lesson with zeck canceled so we walked around lake Alma for comp study. our lesson with Kevin fell through too... and we had members come for both of those lessons. just our luck fr. shawn came for Kevin's lesson so we just talked more with shawn about his talk on Sunday. he asked us some questions and eventually we talked about patriarchal blessings and going to the temple! he's praying about those two things!
speaking of temples... my sister Naomi went through the temple π₯³ so proud of her
anyways we had a lesson with Noah! he said "not this weekend but next weekend I wanna get baptized" BANG. so then we put him on date for September 14th and guys he's SO LOCKED. pray for Noah.
SATURDAY
did another lake Alma walk, half our lessons fell through... at our lesson with Shaun and Damien, Damien was drunk.. a lot of our friends said they'd pull up to church.
SUNDAY
Noah was at church before us! what did I say? LOCKED. he's so elect. a huge missionary stress is when certain members give talks and then you hope and pray your friends didn't listen. that happened this time. our member was spilling some DEEP DOC and we were stressing mega. luckily Noah just noticed the fact that the talk she quoted was given on the EXACT day he was born. he said that was a sign. we love Noah. the rest of the day flew by and I'm not even sure what we did to be honest but...
if you got this far, thanks for reading! I appreciate the support. tell me about your week! I love and miss you all!
